Karnataka students’ should gear up for civil services exam
Dr.K.K.Jadhav, Joint Director Union Public Service Commission, expressed his
concern over the lack of awareness regarding UPSC exams amongst students’ of
North Karnataka region.
Delivering
a talk on ‘Orientation for Civil Services Examination’ at Karnatak University,
which was organized by Equal opportunities for all, Dr.Jadhav encouraged the
North Karnataka students’ to appear for the examination in large numbers and
urged the student’s fraternity to believe in themselves and help each other to
succeed in clearing the examination.
Dr.Jadhav
highlighted on some of the important points to face the examination viz
qualification, number of attempts, paper structure, etc. He especially lauded
on the fact that the application fees for the UPSC exam is meager – Rs.50/-
which is lowest among all the competitive exams held in the country. Moreover
the female candidates are totally exempted from paying any kind of application
fees.
Observing
the growing competition from different parts of the country Dr.Jadhav said referring
to the latest statistics that approximately out of 650,000 students’ appearing
for the examination only 15,000 make it to interview level who in turn compete
to make it for approximately 1200 – 1400 available posts in civil services.
Presiding
over the function Dr.S.A.Patil Registrar Karantak University, Dharwad
reiterated the views expressed by Dr. Jadhav and said that students’ should
develop a good degree of enthusiasm to serve the nation through civil services
and hence focus to prepare thoroughly for the UPSC exams.
Quoting some
exemplary instances and inspiring stories he urged the students to be focused
on their goal to achieve success in the exams irrespective of the obstacles on
the path. Especially he said that poverty was no inadequacy in achieving
success in UPSC exams.
Prof.
Durgadas Registrar (Evaluation) welcomed the gathering. Prof. Hulimani proposed
a vote of thanks. Dr.Shyamla Ratnakar compeered.
